Hey there, Friend!

As we wrap up this month’s theme of Authenticity in Action, I’ve been thinking about what it really means to live with freedom. For me, authenticity has been about peeling back layers, dropping old masks, and allowing myself to be seen—fully and unapologetically. It isn’t always easy, but it is always worth it.

This week’s edition is a celebration of that freedom—the kind that comes when you show up as your truest self, even in the messy, imperfect, beautiful parts of life. Let’s dig into it together.

Coffee Thoughts: Grounded in the Morning

It is gorgeous outside this morning and I decided to enjoy my second cup of coffee out in the yard. It is getting chilly in the mornings now, so I am wearing my pajama pants and a hoodie. No shoes. I left the shoes inside on purpose.

I am a big fan of earthing. Ever since I was young, I have loved to be outside in my bare feet. There was no rhyme or reason to it when I was younger, but I’ve since learned why I love it as an adult. You see, the Earth grounds me. Walking on bare ground—as well as swimming in the ocean—helps balance our bodies by releasing built-up charge. This is called earthing.

So here I am, touching grass with my bare feet, face in the sunshine, breeze in my hair, coffee in hand, and moving with some gentle somatic swaying (slow, soothing movements that calm the nervous system and ground the body). Gentle, calming, grounding, healthy—self-love and self-care.

This is where I am in my journey today.

Authenticity as Freedom

We spend so much of our lives trying to fit into molds: the “good” employee, the “perfect” partner, the “together” friend. And while some roles have their place, they can also become cages if we never take them off.

Authenticity is the opposite of performance. It’s freedom. Freedom to laugh loudly. Freedom to say no without apology. Freedom to cry when life is heavy and to shine when life is beautiful.

When you allow yourself to live authentically, you stop carrying the weight of everyone else’s expectations. You realize that your quirks, your passions, and even your struggles make up the whole of who you are—and that person is worthy of being seen.

Yes, authenticity can be uncomfortable. It might mean letting go of people or patterns that no longer align with you. But the reward is peace. The reward is freedom. The reward is waking up each day knowing that you are living as you—not a watered-down version, not a performance, but your true, whole, vibrant self.

That is the power of being fully you.

Take a Moment for Self-Reflection

As we wrap up this month of exploring authenticity, pause to reflect on how freedom shows up in your own life:

Where in your life do you feel the most free to be yourself?
What expectations or “shoulds” do you still feel weighed down by?
What is one brave step you can take this week to live more authentically and claim your freedom?

Remember, freedom doesn’t always come in big, dramatic gestures—it often begins with small, quiet choices to honor your true self.

My Personal Reflection: Love Meets Authenticity

After what felt like a lifetime of being who everyone else wanted me to be, learning to love myself was like unlocking a door I didn’t know existed. And when I finally stepped through that door, I met my best friend—the person who saw me. Not the version I performed for others, but the actual me. The authentic me. The me-est me I had ever been.

Then came the “final exam” of that first year of self-love: choosing divorce and stepping into my own life for the very first time. I filed, moved into my own apartment, and stood alone—and then, to my surprise, my best friend asked me on a date. We’ve been inseparable ever since.

What still amazes me is that he met me in the middle of my becoming—the version of me that was raw, vulnerable, still figuring things out. And he loved me. He still loves me as I continue to evolve, grow, and walk through the roller coaster of perimenopause and healing. In fact, I sometimes think he loves me even more when I allow myself to be fully human.

With him, I’ve learned that being vulnerable doesn’t weaken a relationship—it strengthens it. We get to be each other’s soft place to land, and also each other’s greatest source of strength. That makes me feel safe, seen, and deeply loved.

I’m so thankful I was brave enough to figure out who I really am and to live as that person. It has been the ultimate game changer. And the best part? It just keeps getting better.

What I Read This Week

I’ve been continuing The Mountain Is You by Brianna Wiest, and I’m struck again by how deeply it digs into self-sabotage and the stories we carry that hold us back. Sometimes, freedom doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from looking honestly at the patterns we’ve been repeating and asking ourselves why.

This ties directly into authenticity: the more honest I am with myself, the more I can shed the masks, stop sabotaging my own growth, and step into who I truly am. If you haven’t picked this one up yet, I highly recommend it—it’s one of those books that keeps handing you “aha” moments with every chapter.

Take the Next Step: Begin Your Journey to Loving Yourself

Authenticity and freedom start with one brave choice: deciding to love yourself as you are.

That’s why Module One: Journey to Loving Yourself is the very first step in the New Year, New Love course series. In this 4-week guided experience, you’ll:
Reflect on where you’ve been and the lessons that shaped you
Set intentions rooted in self-compassion (not guilt or perfectionism)
Build simple daily self-love practices that fit your life
Celebrate progress, no matter how small

If you’ve ever struggled with guilt for putting yourself first, or felt selfish for even wanting to, this module reframes it all. Self-love isn’t selfish—it’s survival. It’s the foundation for showing up as your full, authentic self.

Wrapping Up with Inspiration

Authenticity doesn’t mean being perfect—it means being real. And when you allow yourself to be real, you also allow yourself to be free.

Brené Brown once said, “Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are.” That’s the kind of courage that changes lives—one honest step at a time.

So this week, remember: you don’t have to wait until you feel “ready” or “fixed” to live fully. You are already whole. Already worthy. Already enough.

Keep leaning into your true self—you might be surprised at how much lighter life feels when you do.

Before I Go...

I just want to remind you that your self-love journey doesn’t have to be loud or dramatic—it can be as simple as showing up authentically in small ways every day. Whether that’s saying “no” when you need to, letting your laugh be heard, or just honoring your body with kindness, those little choices add up to big freedom.

Here’s to a week of being unapologetically you. 💛

Never Forget...
