Hey there, Friend!
Welcome back! 🌱 This week, we’re leaning into a truth that isn’t always easy to face: transformation often comes through the breaking. It’s not always graceful. It’s rarely pretty. But every stumble, scrape, and crack has the power to shape us into something stronger and more resilient.
Inside this edition: a Coffee Thought about a not-so-graceful fall (don’t worry—the coffee survived), reflections on finding strength in life’s breaking points, and an invitation to start your own journey of becoming through Module One: Journey to Loving Yourself.
Grab your mug, get cozy, and let’s talk about what it means to become through the breaking.

Coffee Thoughts: Falling in Slow Motion
This morning, while sipping coffee from a brand-new mug (its very first use!), I stepped outside to chat with my husband while he was working in the yard. Between us is a short fence—easy to cross if you’ve got long legs. I, however, do not.
Balancing my coffee, I decided to step over anyway. Let’s just say it didn’t go as smoothly as I imagined. I fell—slow motion style—while my husband watched the whole thing unfold. Somewhere between “Oh no, I’m falling!” and “Keep the coffee level!” I realized there was no recovering gracefully. I closed my eyes, accepted my fate, and tried to fall as carefully as possible.
The result? A scraped knee, a dinged elbow, and a tiny cut on my pinky toe. My pride took a hit, too. But the coffee mug? Safe and sound. (Priorities. ☕😂)
My husband, once he realized I was fine, went from worried to frustrated about the fence. But here’s the silver lining: he repaired it, made it stronger, and even built me an easier way through so I don’t have to attempt Olympic hurdles with short legs again.
It wasn’t graceful. It wasn’t pretty. But in the end, everything turned out better than before. The fence is sturdier, my scrapes got extra care and attention, and life feels a little lighter on the other side of the tumble—all because I wanted to enjoy the sunshine and a chat with my husband over coffee.
Sometimes, even in the breaking, we become stronger.
Transformation Isn’t Always Graceful—But It’s Always Powerful
Transformation works the same way. It’s rarely neat. It’s rarely pretty. In fact, it often feels clumsy, unsexy, and uncomfortable—like stumbling in front of someone you love while clutching your favorite mug. But here’s the thing: the scrapes heal, the fences get rebuilt, and on the other side, we often discover something sturdier, kinder, and more sustainable than before.
Breaking doesn’t mean the end. It’s the moment something new begins. When old beliefs, habits, or routines snap under pressure, they make space for stronger foundations. When we fall, we learn how to get back up differently. And sometimes, what breaks isn’t just us—it’s the barrier that was in our way.
So, if you’re feeling unsteady right now, take heart. Transformation doesn’t have to be graceful to be powerful. Every scrape, every stumble, every slow-motion fall can lead to a sturdier, wiser, more compassionate version of yourself.
Take a Moment for Self-Reflection
We all have our “fence moments”—those times when life knocks us off balance and we land a little scraped up. The question is, what do we learn from them? Take a few minutes with your journal, a quiet moment, or even while sipping coffee, and reflect:
When was the last time I felt like I “fell” in life? What did that experience teach me?
What part of my life feels like it’s breaking or shifting right now?
How could this uncomfortable moment be setting the stage for something stronger or more aligned?
Remember: transformation may be messy, but the growth it creates is always worth it.
Personal Reflection: Broken, but Stronger
There is nothing quite like sitting in a doctor’s office and hearing the words: “We found a little cancer.” Those five words kicked the chair right out from under me. Suddenly, I had to figure out how to move forward—not just for myself, but for my young children. How would I tell them? How could I support them through this? And how would I do it all without a supportive husband by my side? (Spoiler: he wasn’t supportive at all.)
I chose to have a second surgery. What followed nearly ended me—I almost died twice, spending weeks in two different ICUs fighting for my life. It was almost Christmas. My then-husband would call the hospital to tell me he was doing holiday prep without me, because I was “going to die there anyway.”
But I refused to let that be my story. I dug into a strength I didn’t even know I had and decided I wasn’t just going to live—I was going home before Christmas. And I did. On December 22nd, 2005, I hugged my children, wrapped their presents, and celebrated life with them.
The transformation? I discovered that even when broken, I am stronger than I ever imagined. I survived. I lived. And in that breaking, I became more.
What I Read This Week
I’m still deep in Make Your Bed by Admiral William H. McRaven—it’s our book of the month for The Inspired Page, my free, exclusive book club for students of InspiredChapter.com.
What I love about this book is how it reminds us that transformation often begins in the smallest of actions. Making your bed may not sound life-changing, but it creates a foundation of order, accomplishment, and strength that carries into the harder parts of life.
This month’s theme—Becoming Through the Breaking—fits right in. Admiral McRaven reminds us that even in the toughest moments, resilience is built one choice at a time. Sometimes survival, healing, and growth start with the tiniest step forward.

Take the Next Step
When life knocks us down, it can feel impossible to know where to begin again. The truth is, transformation always begins with small, intentional steps. That’s exactly what Module One: Journey to Loving Yourself is all about—starting fresh, even in the middle of the mess.
In this 4-week guided journey, you’ll learn how to:
✨ Release guilt around prioritizing yourself
✨ Build simple daily practices that create momentum
✨ Celebrate your small wins (because they matter!)
✨ Begin shifting from self-criticism into self-compassion
If you’ve been through breaking moments of your own, Module One will meet you right where you are. You don’t have to be perfect or have it all figured out—you just have to take the first step. 💛
Wrapping Up with Inspiration
“In the process of letting go you will lose many things from the past, but you will find yourself.” — Deepak Chopra
Breaking, falling, stumbling—it never feels good in the moment. But those are often the very places where we shed what no longer serves us and discover a deeper strength within. Transformation may leave scrapes, but it also leaves wisdom, resilience, and a stronger version of you.
Before I Go…
If you find yourself in a breaking season, remember—you are not defined by the fall, but by the rise that follows. Every stumble is shaping you, strengthening you, and preparing you for what’s next. Keep showing up for yourself, even in the small ways. Transformation is happening, even if it feels messy.
