Hey there, Friend!
Welcome back to The Inspired Edit, and welcome to December — a month dedicated to Shine Bright ✨.
This week, we’re talking about what it really means to choose light in the middle of life’s chaos… not after everything settles, not when the path is clear, but right there in the swirl of fear, hope, frustration, and courage.
If your week felt like a rollercoaster, if you’ve been pulled in opposite emotional directions, or if you’ve been reminded that growth is not always neat — you’re in exactly the right place.
Let’s talk about choosing light even when your knees are shaking.
Let’s talk about shining anyway.

Coffee Thoughts: Holding the Light When Life Whips You Around
This week felt like one of those newer wood-and-steel roller coasters — the kind that has the audacity not to give you shoulder restraints but still flips you upside down. Terrifying and thrilling all at the same time.
One minute, I was ready to throw in the towel.
The next, someone told me my work is changing their life.
Then I opened my inbox and found out I’m being featured in a national magazine.
White-knuckling life?
Yeah. That was me this week.
But here’s the thing: every one of those highs and lows brought something important into focus. They reminded me — again — that my mission isn’t just something I talk about. It’s something I live.
I’ve known for a long time that my work requires me to be authentic, vulnerable, honest, and present. And every time I let myself be seen just a little more — through my writing, my socials, my story — I feel myself stepping further into the purpose I’ve been running toward for years.
It takes courage to look at your own life and say,
“Okay… this part’s a mess, and I’m going to clean it up.”
It takes even more courage to say,
“And I’m going to show you while I do it.
It won’t always be pretty, but it will always be real.”
So that’s where I am right now.
Choosing to show up.
Choosing to shine anyway.
Choosing to be a light in my own darkness, trusting that maybe — just maybe — that light spills over into someone else’s shadows too.

Choosing Light in the Dark
Light isn’t something you wait for — it’s something you choose, again and again.
When life feels like a rollercoaster — chaotic, unpredictable, heart-lifting one moment and gut-dropping the next — it’s easy to believe that you have to wait for calmer days before you can feel steady again.
But that’s not where your power is.
Your power is in choosing light while the world is shaking.
Choosing truth while fear whispers.
Choosing presence while old patterns pull at you.
Choosing to shine not because everything is perfect, but because you refuse to dim who you’re becoming.
Light isn’t the absence of darkness.
Light is what you bring to it.
You chose it every time you told the truth about your journey.
You chose it when you showed up as your authentic self instead of the polished version.
You chose it when you admitted, even publicly, “Here’s my mess — and here’s how I’m working through it.”
That is light.
That is courage.
That is leadership.
And here’s the part many people don’t realize:
Your light doesn’t have to be blinding to be powerful.
It doesn’t have to be loud, confident, or constant.
Sometimes choosing light looks like:
✨ telling the truth when it would be easier to stay quiet
✨ resting instead of running yourself ragged
✨ letting yourself feel joy without apologizing
✨ showing your healing in progress, not polished
✨ stepping into the spotlight of your own life, even when your voice shakes
Every time you choose light — even a flicker — you weaken the darkness that once felt overwhelming.
And when you shine, you give everyone around you permission to shine too.
This month’s theme isn’t about pretending everything is bright and beautiful.
It’s about choosing to turn on the light inside you even when the room is dim.
It’s about stepping into personal truth, personal power, and personal responsibility for your own glow.
Light is not something you’re waiting for.
It’s something you’re becoming.
Take a Moment for Self-Reflection
This week, give yourself the space to explore your own relationship with light — not the external kind, but the light you create from within. Ask yourself:
Where in my life am I dimming myself because I’m afraid of being seen?
What small act of truth or courage would help me turn my light back on?
When things feel dark or chaotic, what helps me reconnect to who I truly am?
You don’t have to glow at full wattage.
You just have to be willing to flip the switch.
My Personal Reflection: Letting Myself Shine, Even When It’s Messy
Writing this week’s Coffee Thoughts reminded me of something I’ve had to learn the hard way: choosing light is rarely glamorous. Most of the time, it’s messy, uncomfortable, and slightly awkward — like trying to be profound while your very handsome husband is wandering around the kitchen and completely derailing your train of thought.
But that’s real life.
And honestly? That’s where the light is.
This past week flipped me upside down more times than I can count. I went from wanting to quit, to hearing that my work is changing lives, to being featured in a national magazine — all in the span of a few days. My nervous system didn’t know whether to dance or cry.
But in the middle of all that chaos, something in me settled.
I realized I’m not just writing about authenticity and courage and vulnerability — I’m living it.
Every time I share a truth I used to hide…
every time I show up without over-polishing my humanity…
every time I whisper “keep going” when my fear says “stop”…
I’m choosing light.
My light.
The one I’ve spent years trying to grow into.
And yes — some weeks it flickers.
Some days it’s dimmer than others.
Some moments feel like darkness is winning.
But I’m learning that choosing light isn’t a one-time decision.
It’s a practice.
A muscle.
A devotion to myself and to the mission I believe in.
And if my light helps even one person find their own glow in the middle of their hard week?
Then every messy, imperfect, rollercoaster moment is worth it.
What I Read This Week
This month, I’m diving into Mindset by Dr. Carol Dweck — a book that explores how our beliefs about ourselves shape everything from our success to our happiness to the way we respond when life gets hard.
One thing that struck me this week is Dweck’s idea that a growth mindset isn’t loud or flashy. It’s not about being perfect or endlessly confident. It’s about choosing — choosing to grow, choosing to learn, choosing to believe you can become something more than the stories you’ve carried.
And honestly? That feels like the embodiment of this week’s theme.
When my life flipped me upside down like a rollercoaster, I could have shut down. I could have dimmed myself. I could have said, “This is too much.”
But a tiny part of me whispered,
“Keep going. You’re growing through this.”
That’s the growth mindset at work — not glamorous, not polished, just quietly persistent.
The more I read, the more I realize that choosing light is choosing growth. It’s believing that each setback, each fear, each messy moment is an opportunity to become more of who I’m meant to be.
And that’s a mindset worth shining.
Take the Next Step: A Patchling for Your Pocket of Light
This week is all about choosing light — even when life spins, flips, and throws you off balance. And honestly? That’s exactly why I created the Patchlings.

Every Patchling is a tiny reminder that you’re not alone.
That growth is possible.
That softness matters.
That your light is worth tending, even on the hard days.
These little handmade companions aren’t just cute plushies — they’re symbols of comfort and courage. Each one comes with its own name, birthday, personality, and affirmation designed to help you reconnect with your inner light and feel supported on your journey.
And here’s the magical part:
The Patchling chooses you.
Not the other way around.
If you’ve been feeling
✨ overwhelmed
✨ dimmed
✨ stretched thin
✨ or in need of something gentle to hold onto…
a Patchling might be the perfect next step for you this week.
They make thoughtful holiday gifts, too — especially for friends and family who could use a little reminder that they’re loved, worthy, and not alone.
Let a little light find you today.
You might be surprised by how much it brightens.
Wrapping Up with Inspiration
Your light doesn’t have to be loud to be life-changing.
Before you step into the week ahead, I want to leave you with this:
Light is a choice you make in the middle of the mess — not after everything is perfect.
It’s the tiny moment you speak kindly to yourself.
The breath you take before spiraling.
The truth you tell even when your voice shakes.
The softness you allow into places that once felt hard.
Your light is not measured by how brightly you shine, but by your willingness to keep showing up — honestly, courageously, imperfectly — even on the days when you feel upside down.
Keep choosing the light.
Especially when it feels dim.
That’s when it matters most.
Before I go…
I hope you’ll carry this with you into the coming days:
You don’t owe the world a polished version of yourself — your authentic glow is more than enough.
When life gets chaotic, when fear whispers, when doubt tries to pull the dimmer switch, take a breath and remember that choosing light is an act of love toward yourself.
And you are worthy of that love every single day.
Never Forget...
You Are Beautiful!
You Are Amazing!
You Are Worthy!
And I Believe in YOU!
Much Love,
Lady Misty Gebhart
