Hey there, Friend!
Can I let you in on something I've been realizing lately?
For years, I thought growth would arrive with trumpets and fireworks.
I thought there would be one defining moment when I would finally become the person I'd been working so hard to be.
Instead...
It happened so gradually that I almost missed it.
One page became a book.
One walk became two half-marathons.
One journal entry became six filled journals.
One article became a business.
One quiet choice became a different life.
This week, we're wrapping up our July series by talking about something I hope you'll never forget:
The most meaningful growth often happens so slowly that you only recognize it when you stop long enough to look back.
So pour yourself a cup of coffee, settle into your favorite chair, and let's spend a few quiet minutes together.
Coffee Thoughts: The Slow Bloom
As you're reading this, I'm probably somewhere in North Carolina, sipping coffee and trying to wake up before the long drive home.
At least, that's the plan.
As I'm writing this on Thursday evening, we're getting ready to head to GalaxyCon for the weekend—my very first convention of its kind.
Needless to say, I'm pretty excited.
I'm sure I'll have a story or two to tell you next week.
But this week...
Something else happened.
Something much quieter.
I've been wrestling with my business for a long time.
What is Inspired Chapter?
Where is it going?
Who am I becoming in the middle of building it?
Being a one-woman business means I wear every hat imaginable. I used to joke that Inspired Chapter was like a Kraken—tentacles reaching in every direction.
Over the years, I've intentionally pruned those tentacles down. There are fewer now, but I still do every single part of each one.
This week, though, I noticed something I'd somehow missed all these years.
Almost everything I do begins with writing.
Books.
Courses.
Wellness content.
Social media.
This newsletter.
It all starts with words.
And for the first time, I stopped arguing with myself.
I am an author.
Inspired Chapter isn't just my business.
It's my writing platform.
That's my truth.
What's funny is that becoming an author didn't happen this week.
It didn't even happen when I published my first book.
It happened one page...
One article...
One newsletter...
One lesson...
One manuscript...
One ordinary writing session at a time.
I just couldn't see it while I was living it.
Looking back over the last eleven years, I can finally see the whole garden.
The roots no one ever saw.
The shoots breaking through the soil.
The books already published.
The wellness packages I've created.
The newsletters that have found their way into inboxes every Sunday.
And now...
The buds that are getting ready to bloom, like 365 Days of Coffee Thoughts, which is finally about eighty-five percent complete.
For so long, I wrestled with imposter syndrome.
Even when there was evidence all around me, I refused to believe I could call myself an author.
But eventually there comes a point where the flowers bloom so fully that denying the plant no longer makes sense.
Maybe that's how growth works.
It isn't sudden.
It isn't loud.
Most of it happens underground, where no one can see it.
Until one day you look back and realize...
You didn't become someone new overnight.
You simply grew into who you were becoming all along.
And that's a bloom worth trusting.
Trust the Slow Bloom
Growth isn't always visible. The small, unseen changes that become lasting transformation.
We live in a world that celebrates visible results.
The finished book.
The promotion.
The weight loss.
The business launch.
The finish line.
What we don't often celebrate are the months—or years—that came before them.
The early mornings.
The failed attempts.
The quiet practice.
The ordinary days when it feels like nothing is happening.
The truth is, that's where most growth takes place.
Think about a tree.
Long before anyone admires its branches or enjoys its shade, an invisible root system is growing beneath the surface. It isn't exciting to watch because, from the outside, it looks like nothing is happening.
But beneath the ground, everything is happening.
The same is true for us.
Healing often begins in conversations no one else hears.
Confidence grows one small decision at a time.
Trust is built by quietly keeping promises to yourself.
Wisdom comes from lessons you never wanted to learn.
None of those things make headlines.
Yet they're the very foundation that supports everything people eventually do see.
The challenge is that we tend to compare our invisible roots to someone else's visible flowers.
We forget that we're looking at different stages of growth.
If you only judge your progress by what other people can see, you'll miss the quiet transformation taking place beneath the surface.
So don't be discouraged if your life doesn't look dramatically different today than it did yesterday.
Some of the most important work you're doing isn't visible yet.
Keep watering the roots.
Keep showing up.
Keep learning.
Keep healing.
One day you'll look back and realize that what felt like slow progress was actually deep growth.
Flowers bloom because someone tended the roots long before anyone noticed the garden.
Your life is no different.
Take a Moment for Self-Reflection
Think about where you were a year ago.
Or even five years ago.
• What quiet changes have taken place in my life that I rarely stop to acknowledge?
• What "roots" am I growing right now that no one else can see?
• If I trusted my own slow bloom, how would I show up differently this week?
Growth isn't measured only by what you've accomplished.
Sometimes it's measured by who you're becoming while no one is watching.
Personal Reflection: The Roots Were Growing All Along
I think one of the hardest parts about personal growth is that we live it one ordinary day at a time.
When you're in the middle of it, it doesn't feel remarkable.
It feels repetitive.
You write another page.
You read another chapter.
You make another healthy choice.
You have another difficult conversation.
You keep another promise to yourself.
Then you wake up the next day and do it again.
It's easy to wonder if any of it is making a difference.
But every once in a while, life gives you the gift of perspective.
This week was one of those moments for me.
For years, I kept asking myself what Inspired Chapter was becoming.
I questioned my direction.
I questioned my abilities.
I questioned whether I even had the right to call myself an author.
Then I stopped long enough to look behind me instead of only staring at the road ahead.
Eleven years of writing.
Books.
Articles.
Courses.
Newsletters.
Wellness packages.
Hundreds of thousands of words.
I realized something that had been true long before I was willing to admit it.
I wasn't becoming an author.
I had been living as one for years.
Isn't it funny how we're often the last people to recognize our own growth?
We get so close to the work that we only notice what still needs to be done.
We rarely stop to appreciate the roots we've been growing beneath the surface.
That realization has changed the way I look at every area of my life.
Maybe healing is like that.
Maybe confidence is like that.
Maybe peace is like that.
Maybe all of the things we've been talking about this month are quietly taking root, even on the days when it feels like nothing is happening.
So today, I'm choosing to trust the slow bloom.
Not because I know exactly what tomorrow holds.
But because I've finally seen enough evidence to believe that faithful, ordinary days have a way of becoming extraordinary lives.
Sometimes the most beautiful flowers are the ones that took the longest to bloom.
And I think they're worth the wait.
Take the Next Step
This week, stop looking for flowers.
Look for roots.
Pay attention to the quiet work you're doing that no one else can see.
The page you wrote.
The boundary you kept.
The walk you took.
The apology you offered yourself.
The moment you chose peace instead of panic.
The decision to keep showing up when no one was applauding.
Those are your roots.
Keep tending them.
Because the life you're building isn't growing overnight.
It's growing underneath the surface, one faithful choice at a time.
Trust the process.
Trust the roots.
And trust that your bloom will come in its own perfect season.
Wrapping Up with Inspiration
“The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn.”
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
Every towering tree began as something small.
Not insignificant.
Just unseen.
Never underestimate what can grow from the quiet choices you make today.
Before I go…
As we close out this month on Soft Healing, Quiet Strength, I hope you'll give yourself credit for something we often overlook.
The person you're becoming isn't being shaped only by the big moments.
She's being shaped by ordinary Tuesdays.
By quiet mornings with coffee.
By choosing kindness over criticism.
By practicing peace.
By trusting yourself enough to keep showing up.
Those moments may not feel extraordinary while you're living them.
But one day you'll look back and realize they were quietly changing everything.
Thank you for sharing another month of Sunday mornings with me.
It truly is one of my favorite traditions.
Never Forget...
You Are Beautiful!
You Are Amazing!
You Are Worthy!
And I Believe in YOU!
Much Love,
Lady Misty Gebhart
